Montessori Approach
A century ago, Italian physician Maria Montessori used scientific methods to develop a truly innovative approach to education. Her focus was on nurturing the natural developmental needs of the whole child.

Why Outside?
Nature-based schooling benefits the whole child, mentally, socially, and emotionally. Here are just a few examples that are close to our hearts:
- Observation of the natural world nurtures focus and concentration.
- Exploration and wonder are the foundation to a love of learning.
- Movement and self-regulation of the body empowers the young child.
- In nature, socializing and independent activity are seamlessly interchangeable. Friendships deepen in one-on-one moments, and expand as group games organically emerge.
Animals are teachers here, too. They give us opportunities to learn empathy and listening skills. Animals model problem-solving, and require it of us. They teach us responsibility and inspire connection.
